Whole-Body Vibration

Whole-Body Vibration (WBV), originally developed as an athletic training method, may be an effective therapeutic intervention for people living with neurological impairments. Additionally, ongoing studies are beginning to validate that WBV may be effective in counteracting bone density loss, improving walking function, and increasing muscle strengthening when used as part of a comprehensive neurological therapy program.

Level Eleven Physical Therapy utilizes a customized fitness rack that allows a patient to stabilize and support themselves during a WBV session. For patients that require additional support or stabilization, a custom partial bodyweight supporting harness can be employed. Giving the patient the resources and support they need helps them make the most of not just their whole-body vibration sessions, but their therapy as a whole.

Benefits:

  • Reduction of Muscle Spasms
  • Increases in Muscle / Nerve Activation
  • Prevention of Muscle Atrophy
  • Counteraction of bone density loss
  • Utilization in upper and lower body weight-bearing exercises facilitates greater blood flow
